After considering several potential sites in Downtown Seattle, POP selected the Skinner Building for their headquarters.
The Skinner Building is a 1920s-era structure loaded with historic charm. For this project the existing space was completely gutted to expose many architecturally distinctive details, including full-height concrete trusses running down the middle of the space and eight skylights that had been covered for years.
Gateway brought those historic components back to life, carefully sandblasting the concrete trusses and rebuilding the skylights to match their original design. With the historic restoration complete, we turned our attention to the infrastructure, which would be entirely modern.
Using new and custom-designed components, Gateway created a server room with a split-HVAC system for 24/7 cooling, an audio-visual room with stadium seating, and a conference room entirely walled in glass. The end result is a dynamic, modern space that beautifully coexists with the existing historic structure.
