Regence Blue Shield's plans to condense 10 occupied floors into 4 floors, at first glance, seemed like a logistics challenge. With the help of Johnson Controls and NBBJ Architects, Gateway Construction performed the task effectively and quickly. While working under the HIPPA Privacy Rule for protecting Regence’s information and customer records, Gateway relocated their UPS system tied into the main server, without disrupting the access to the systems/databases nationwide. Gateway developed a detailed 5 floor demolition plan and comprehensive phasing plan to accommodate the tenant and it's customers.
The Gateway Team developed the best approaches to incorporate the building's standards into Regence’s new and improved layout. Each conference room is equipped with state of the art communications incorporating interactive video conferencing capabilities. The training rooms have surround sound speakers, microphones, projectors, automatic screens, telecommunications, and interactive displays.
Before construction, the existing layout consisted of a large restaurant / cafeteria, cramped open office space, and a along with an outdated daycare center. Gateway transformed the cafeteria for room of up to 50 employees with commercial grade appliances, vending machines, coffee makers, insta-hot. The office areas were completely reconstructed with butt glazed glass storefronts and aluminum framed doors, touchdown areas, increased open office areas, sound proof employee phone rooms, and renovations to men's and women's restrooms on all 4 floors.
Gateway's effective phasing and construction plan proved effective and deliberate. Regence was very happy with the space, and Gateway was proud to work with such a great project team.
