Gateway is a continued supporter of Wellspring Family Services and strongly believes in their cause and affects. Members of Gateway’s team were present at the Powerful Change Luncheon to hear the stories of two lives changed by Wellspring’s programs.
Wellspring is pleased to announce that more than $500,000 has been raised to support its mission to help children and families in crisis in King County triumph over trauma and thrive. This inspiring total raised is the result of two fundraising events, including the Seattle Foundation’s 2015 GiveBIG campaign (May 5, 2015) and Wellspring’s annual Powerful Change Luncheon (May 7, 2015).
Wellspring is also pleased to announce that more than $481,978 was raised at its annual Powerful Change Luncheon on Thursday, May 7th. More than 700 community members, donors, and sponsors gathered at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Seattle to help Wellspring stop the cycle of generational trauma in families through programs focused on early learning, housing stability, mental health, and domestic violence intervention.
Several elected officials and political appointees attended the event to demonstrate their support for children and families in crisis in King County, including: State Senator Steve Litzow, Seattle City Council President Tim Burgess, King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski, and King County Deputy Executive Fred Jarrett.
The luncheon was also once again hosted by long-time Wellspring supporter and KIRO 7 News Anchor, Steve Raible, who has been an integral speaker at the event for the past 18 years.
“My belief, that powerful change is possible, continues to be reinforced every day,” commented Ruthann Howell, CEO/President. “You are here today because you believe that powerful change is possible—in ourselves, in each other, and in our community. Together—as a community—I know we can and we will ensure that children and families triumph over trauma and thrive!”
Stories of triumph were highlighted through Fawn, current Wellspring client and Baby Boutique volunteer, and Maria, a former Early Learning Center student and current ELC teacher. Both expressed their profound stories of powerful change while emphasizing their continued commitment to giving back to the community.
Wellspring’s speakers were also joined by community leader and longtime supporter Dr. Ben Danielson of Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, who expressed his passion for the partnership between Wellspring and Odessa Brown, and the ongoing impact our strong community has had—and can continue to have—for the thousands of children and families served each year when we come together.
